Introduction:
For the best part of the last decade, I have worked selling overseas property. Prior to that I spent several years in sales and customer services oriented positions with prestigious companies within the motor trade in the South of England and Singapore.
My first job in the motor trade was as a cleaner/driver for a BMW dealer in Surrey. After a short period of time doing that job the company saw something different in me - possibly that I wore a shirt and tie to clean the cars - and offered me a position as a trainee service advisor. My progress was fast, and when the position for a senior service advisor at another dealership within the same group became available, I gladly accepted.
I thoroughly enjoyed running the entire department and was soon training other members of staff for the company's other dealerships. However, after becoming a finalist in a major trade publication's Service Advisor of the year competition, I came to the attention of BMW who, at that time, were looking for someone to go to Singapore to teach a new franchise holder how to deliver the level of customer service that BMW demand. After a single interview, I was offered and accepted a short-term contract.
On my return to the UK I decided that my future lay in sales because that was were I saw my talents earning the best rewards, and I believe I was correct. However, for some time, I found myself getting down to the last two candidates for a sales job, but was being beaten to the position by people who had previous sales experience. Eventually, a forward thinking sales manager at a Volvo dealership decided to take a punt on me, and I haven't looked back since.
Not long afterwards, a former BMW colleague who was now sales manager for a Land Rover dealership heard I was back in the country and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was with that company for many happy years, and when they ran a group salesman of the year contest within all their dealerships (Land Rover, Audi, Bentley, Jaguar,Aston Martin) I was fortunate enough to win it. However, in the short term, promotion within the company seemed unlikely and I started to look at where I should take my talents and an advertsiment in "The Autocar" steered me towards overseas property sales.
I started my new career as a sales executive for one of the biggest International property companies in Spain. Based in Marbella, I sold property all the way along the Costa Del Sol (or Costa Del Golf as it is also known) and learned how to manage the sales process from start to finish. After several years service in Spain, I was transferred to the South of France, initialy opening an office in Nice covering areas on the Cote D Azur - such as Cannes, Monaco, St Tropez. Later, I opened a second office for the company in Montpelier the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
My next move was to Bulgaria where, for many years, I had total control in the setting up and day to day running of one of the most respected independent property companies in the region. Finding offices and shops for the company, sourcing suitable staff and training them in the business.
By now - as you can imagine - I have accumulated an intimate knowledge of the overseas property market. From sourcing and selling, dealing with lawyers and financiers in many countries, to exhibiting property all over Europe, I am familiar with everything anyone might need to know in order to buy or sell a property with confidence. Accordingly, I believe that it is now time to share my experience with potential buyers and help them through the buying maze, and to make the process as safe and simple as possible for you.
